National Cyber Force Verified

Cyberspace is constantly evolving, and so are cyber careers.

The National Cyber Force (NCF) is a partnership between GCHQ, Ministry of Defence, Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and Dstl (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory).

NCF is responsible for operating in and through cyberspace to counter threats, disrupting and contesting those who would do harm to the UK and its allies, to keep the country safe and to protect and promote the UK’s interests at home and abroad.

Being a unique partnership construct, with each organisation bringing complimentary skills and expertise that are critical to their success, NCF believe by bringing together this uniquely diverse mix of minds that they can have a significant impact on a wide range of adversaries.

Working in cyber provides you with the chance to use your skills to their full potential and play your part in keeping the country safe. NCF need both technical and non-technical people, with both providing their own individual knowledge and experience.

A key aim in NCF's future growth ambitions is to develop a diverse and vibrant workforce that truly represents the communities they serve.

Employee benefits: As NCF is a partnership between Defence and Intelligence, employee benefits are different depending on which organisation you are employed by. For example, if you are in the military working for NCF, you will enjoy the benefits that being in the military offers.

Skills NCF look for:

  • problem solving
  • spotting patterns
  • understanding human behaviour
  • working with numbers and data
  • exploring the latest science and technology
  • critical thinking

A common misconception about the NCF is that we only employ technical people that can code. This is a skill that we value but there are many more. There will be exciting and fulfilling career opportunities across a spectrum of expertise, ranging from systems engineers and intelligence analysts, to finance and HR professionals.

Subjects related to sector/work:
Whether you’re in the middle of your GCSE’s or exploring your options in further or higher
education, there has never been a better time to consider how your passion, skills or
experience can be used to help tackle global cyber threats head on.
