Overview

Jane Street is a trading firm with a unique focus on technology and collaborative problem solving.

The environment at Jane Street is open, informal, intellectual and fun. You can wear a t-shirt and jeans to the office every day, the kitchen is stocked full of complimentary food, there’s a gym and a games room onsite, and discussions are always lively! Teaching and learning are central activities at Jane Street through classes, mentoring and discussion.

Technology is at the core of how Jane Street approach trading, and they consider themselves as much a technology company as a trading firm. So, if you're going to University and are interested in STEM and a trading career, then join us for an online work experience event with professionals from Jane Street.

What this event could lead to

Jane Street's key to success isn’t brand recognition, but people. Their growth comes from hiring and training amazing people and giving them the tools they need to innovate. Linking to this goal is Jane Street's incredible 3 day programmes for first year University students, 'Insight' and 'In Focus'. By attending this event, you can learn more about both, and how to apply when applications open in January 2022.

Agenda

Your day could look like this:

  • Introduction to Jane Street - who they are and what they do.
  • Speed networking with Jane Street team members and graduates with plenty of time to ask questions!
  • Working in trading: Hearing from the team
  • Opportunity Next Steps: How to stay in touch with Jane Street, and how to apply to their 3 day 1st year University placement programme in London, with all expenses paid if it's in person.

Who should attend

  • You will be in year 13 with a confirmed University place
  • You will ideally be going on to study a STEM related degree subject, but still apply if you're not!
  • You will be interested in trading, finance and how this links to technology in the modern world
  • You might have taken STEM subjects at A-Level too
  • You might be interested, in Summer 2022, in taking part in Jane Streets 3 day University placement programme, INSIGHT or In Focus - you'd find out more about this on the event!
