Who Are ATAC?
The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult was established as an independent centre of excellence to advance the growth of the UK cell and gene therapy industry, by bridging the gap between scientific research and full-scale commercialisation.
With more than 350 employees focusing on cell and gene therapy technologies, it works with partners in academia and industry to ensure these life-changing therapies can be developed for use in health services throughout the world.
It offers leading-edge capability, technology and innovation to enable companies to take products into clinical trials and provide clinical, process development, manufacturing, regulatory, health economics and market access expertise.
What is the Operations & Quality Technician Apprenticeship?
In this apprenticeship you will be supporting Collaborators developing and manufacturing a wide range of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). You will work as part of a highly collaborative team involved in accelerating the commercialisation of ATMPs.
You will spend a year supporting Operations and Supply Chain, followed by a year in both Quality and Validation groups. 20% of your time will be spent undertaking a study program to achieve a Foundation Degree in Applied Bioscience (for ATMP) with the University of Kent, with the majority of study taking place via distance learning.
Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
- Understanding the principles of process operation and science behind cell and gene therapies.
- Creating and maintaining compliant process documentation to ensure traceability of processes.
- Working with electronic business systems supporting the Manufacturing Centre Operation.
- Monitoring and recording of temperature controlled storage areas in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Who Should Apply?
ATAC are looking for candidates with a strong interest in advanced therapies who are reliable, with a positive response to change. The ability to manage your time effectively and be organised is also important.
Ideally, the candidate will have two A-Levels (or equivalent), including biology, or will have a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship in a relevant scientific discipline, and GCSE's (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
However, applicants without these qualifications will be looked at on a case-by-case basis, and any evidence of previous study and work-placed experience will be considered.
