What is Steps to Success?
The Steps to Success Scholarship Program is a unique social mobility program for outstanding Year 13 students in the UK, from lower income households, who want to gain practical experience in the Investment Banking Industry before starting university.
The program offers a rare insight into the workings of a large and innovative global bank, consisting of one four-week and one six-week summer internship in London, which will take place in the summer of 2022 and 2023, combined with a financial scholarship for university tuition fees for every year that you are a scholar on the program.

What Would you be Doing?
You will have the opportunity to intern in one of three different businesses at Credit Suisse, which could include: Capital Markets & Advisory, Sales, Trading & Structuring, or Equity Research. During the program you will be given Industry training, soft skills training, mentoring, exclusive events, shadowing days, real-world business challenges and demanding tasks to enrich your experience and create valuable networks in the bank and the wider sector. By the end of the program you will gain a rich, varied insight into work at Credit Suisse, the industry in general and the diverse teams that collaborate to deliver innovative solutions.
Who can apply?
Eligibility
You must have a combined household income of £30,000 or less. Credit Suisse also consider the following when reviewing applications:
- Eligiblility for Free School Meals
- First generation Unviersity students
- Students who attend a state school
- Students who attend a state school with a lower than average performance
- Students who live in an area which has a high level of financial, social or economic deprivation. This is defined by home postcode
- Any other factors with regards to social mobility that you wish to share with us
Qualifications and Skills
Credit Suisse select students based on academic excellence, leadership ability and interest in the financial services industry.
In particular, you should:
- Be able to demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills
- Be currently in Year 13/Gap Year with a minimum AAA (or equivalent) grade prediction
- Be in the process of applying through UCAS for a place at University on a three year course (graduating in 2025)
- Have a record of high achievement in and outside of academia
- Have an interest in financial services
