GCHQ
As one of Britain’s intelligence agencies, GCHQ unlocks the complex world of communications to make a real difference to the safety of the nation. They work closely with their partners in the intelligence community to safeguard Britain’s people, interests, and businesses from various threats. Think serious organised crime, such as people and drugs trafficking, or terrorism and cyber-attacks. It’s challenging and varied work that you won’t find anywhere else.
Overview
Do you enjoy problem-solving and complex challenges? Do you have an interest in technology? Are you attracted to a role that challenges the way you think? GCHQ is offering you the exciting opportunity to be an intelligence analyst in Manchester.
GCHQ value your ability to learn and adapt to new challenges. They'll invest in your skills, providing tutor-led and mentor-led training. They’ll support and encourage you, helping you to become part of our world-class intelligence analysis team.
Who should apply?
GCHQ want people from all backgrounds, with great analytical skills who enjoy being challenged and can make sense of complex information. Your background, life experience and culture could be critical to giving that vital diversity of mindsets that GCHQ need to protect the country. You’ll enjoy taking responsibility for your own work, collaborating with other analysts on both short and long-term projects.
Other skills and mindset desired:
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure
- Pro-active and keen to learn
- Interest in new technology
You’ll be comfortable with technology, but don’t worry if you don’t have a technical background as GCHQ will provide full training from the beginning. Some of their very best intelligence analysts joined us without technical knowledge, but came with a curiosity for technology, a passion for learning, and the ability to never give up on a problem.
To apply for this position, you must be at least 18 years of age by 1st September 2021 and have a minimum of 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C in Mathematics and English Language. You must also meet our nationality, residency, and security requirements. You can find more details here.
