GSK is a place where outstanding people do amazing things. They exist to help people do more, feel better, live longer.

The Role and qualification

Data is changing the way we think and work at GSK. It’s crucial to the future of business.

On the GSK 4-year programme you’ll receive tailored on-the-job training from industry experts from day one combined with early responsibility to help you to develop and progress in this exciting career.

You’ll be working towards the BSc Data Science Level 6 Apprenticeship qualification with Anglia Ruskin University in association with Cambridge Spark (our providers may be subject to change).  Learning on your apprenticeship with Anglia Ruskin University and Cambridge Spark will be delivered online through a combination of immersive teaching weeks, live, instructor-led training (delivered via high-quality, bite-sized video and audio), interactive quizzes, real-world simulated group projects and Q&A sessions.

If you are offered a role, you will have a buddy or a mentor who will help you to prepare for joining GSK and will be there to offer support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship. Apprentices are also supported by expert coaches through the learning provider partnership and gain hands-on practical experience with Cambridge Spark’s data science learning platform, EDUKATE.AI.

Working with both your line manager and programme manager we want to identify the right opportunities to help you succeed in the short term and throughout your career with us.

Your apprenticeship will be with the Pharma Supply Chain Tech team, based at our GSK site in Worthing.

In order to ensure you get the best opportunities to develop your skills, gain valuable experience and build your network, you will undergo rotations in 2 roles across the duration of your programme. GSK will provide support and guidance (including relocation assistance if necessary) as you move between roles to ensure the transition is as smooth and beneficial for you as possible.

What your day to day might look like:

  • Using deep learning to create algorithms to help our manufacturing teams plan the supply flow

  • Designing, building and managing the 'big data' infrastructure for a segment of the Pharma Supply Chain Tech team

  • Using programming languages to transform raw data into insights that feed into the team’s strategy

  • Learning how to analyse large-scale datasets to provide innovative solutions that answer business questions

Requirements
