JPMorganChase Work Experience FAQs
Want to get involved with the JPMorganChase work experience? Not sure how?
Check out our frequently asked questions below.
Where do I find the JPMorganChase Work Experience?
All our Work Experience opportunities with JPMorganChase are found on the JPMorganChase company page. From there if there's an event in your area, you can click through to apply. You will need to be logged into your Uptree account to apply for a place. If you need support signing up for an Uptree account you can visit our general FAQ page.
If there are no events available in your area, click to follow JPMorganChase and you'll be notified by email when they next have opportunities go live.
I'm in Year 12 or Year 13, can I still apply?
Unfortunately the experience we currently offer is only for Year 10s and 11s (or S3 and S4 if you're in Scotland). Whilst you can apply, your application will not be considered and you will not be offered a place.
There isn't a work experience event in my area, but I'm happy to travel, is that OK?
Unfortunately not, these events are designed for students who live in the communities around JPMorganChase's offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bournemouth and London and we will not be accepting applications from further than 90 minutes travel. Please check out our main events page to see what we have coming up online or in your area.
Do I need to attend all the dates on the event page?
Yes you do! The current work experience programme is split over several sessions and you need to be able to attend all of them to be eligible to attend.
Will Uptree or JPMorganChase pay for my travel costs?
Unfortunately, we cannot cover any travel costs for this work experience. However, please see our travel guidance on where you can get support elsewhere.
When will I hear back about my application?
Thanks for applying! We will shortlist applicants around 8 weeks before the event takes place.
What happens once I register?
You'll receive a confirmation email acknowledging your application. Make sure to check the spam/junk folder of your emails for this and to mark Uptree as a safe sender.
Then, keep an eye on your inbox for any updates. We usually shortlist for JPMorganChase work experience 8 weeks in advance. If your application is successful, you'll be asked to reconfirm your place and to complete a parent/guardian consent form. You have 48 hours to submit your parent/guardian consent form. If you take longer than this, your place may not be guaranteed and you may end up on the waiting list.
Once your space is confirmed, you'll receive further joining information via email and text. If you do not confirm your place or complete the parent/guardian consent form on time, you will not be able to attend.
If an event is over subscribed, you may end up on the waiting list. Unless you hear further from us, you do not have a place on the work experience day so please do not attend. However, if a space comes available, you may then be invited. Keep an eye on your emails in case you are offered a place. You will not need to re-confirm your place in this case.
I'm not happy with my application - how can I edit it?
Unfortunately to update your application, you'll need to delete it and start again. To delete your application, go to the event page and you'll see the option at the top of the page.
Please be aware if you do delete and resubmit your application less than 8 weeks before the event takes place, we will already have started shortlisting applications and your new application may not get reviewed.
How do I sign up to be an Uptree x JPMorganChase ambassador?
If you have completed the work experience programme, you can apply to be an ambassador by completing our testimonial form.
I can no longer attend one of the Work Experience event dates, what do I do?
Unfortunately to be eligible for the programme, you need to be available to attend all dates. If you are no longer able to attend one of the dates, you will be no longer be eligible for the programme and you need to let us know as soon as possible by emailing educationteam@uptree.co. We will pass on your spot to someone on the waiting list. Unless it is an emergency, any last minute cancellations may result in your account being suspended for three months.
What do I get if I attend this Work Experience event?
As well as gaining a host of valuable skills, you will also earn a certificate of completion which can be saved in your personal record of achievement. Certificates can also be shared on your LinkedIn and added to your professional profile. You could also share on other social media channels - don't forget to tag us!
What will I do on the day?
The full programme agenda is outlined on the event page for each work experience programme. You can find the event pages through JPMorganChase's company page.
The programme will include sessions looking at developing your skills, working with professionals and building your knowledge of JPMorganChase.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Anything you need to prepare will be sent out in advance with other joining information.
However, it always reflects well on you if you've prepared some questions for Q&A sessions or panels if they are part of the agenda.
What shall I wear?
Dress smartly — think business casual or professional. You’re representing yourself and getting a taste of professional environments. This could be a smart pair of trousers or skirt, paired with a shirt or smart top. Ties tend to be optional and trainers and hoodies are to be avoided.
Make sure whatever you wear, you feel comfortable. For more information, check out this advice from Indeed.
I need support to help me attend on the day.
If you have any access or support needs, please contact the Uptree team as soon as your place has been confirmed on the Work Experience event and we will do our best to accommodate this.
For example, this could be that you need any resources printed in colour due to dyslexia.
Will photos or videos be taken?
Yes, our event hosts usually take photos on the day. These are sent round to participants in our follow up email.
If you'd rather opt out from photos, please let the Uptree host know at the start of the Work Experience event.
I've not received any communication about the event.
You should have received a confirmation email when you submitted your application. If you haven't received this, check your email spam/junk folder for any missed emails. If you do find us in your spam/junk, make sure to mark Uptree as a safe sender so this doesn't happen again.
If you still haven't received anything, check your Uptree profile to make sure your application has been correctly submitted. You'll be able to see under 'upcoming events' which events you have applied to and your status for them.
If you're waiting to hear back about your application after successful submission, you should hear if you have been shortlisted around 8 weeks before the event. Again, you can check your application status through your profile. You probably won't hear from Uptree earlier than this. If you haven't heard from Uptree two weeks before the event, unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful.
I haven't received the link for the virtual event.
We send out the link for virtual events three days in advance. If you still haven't received the link by then, make sure to check your email spam/junk folder for any missed emails. If you do find us in your spam/junk, make sure to mark Uptree as a safe sender so this doesn't happen again.
If you still can't find an email with the link, please email educationteam@uptree.co .
Where can I find my certificate?
When you're logged into your Uptree account, visit your profile page, then click 'Activities' and you'll be able to download certificates for any Work Experience events you have attended.
