Fjolla Prekazi shares her experience of how Uptree lead her to become an apprentice with the world’s leading broker firm...

BPL Global specialises exclusively in credit and political risk insurance (CPRI) for multinational corporations, banks and financial institutions.

In July, Fjolla attended an Uptree work experience day at BPL’s London offices - here she met with key professionals, visited the famous Lloyds of London building, found out about a career in insurance and was inspired to apply for the apprenticeship.

“Uptree provided me with the opportunity to apply for the position. It was the insight evening that BPL Global had held for their apprenticeship scheme that enabled me to both network and have a chance to apply to the apprenticeship position they were offering.”

Fjolla admits that she actually knew very little of the insurance industry before she attended the insight event! She is a great example of someone willing to find out about a new career opportunity. Fjolla added,

“...as a result of the insight evening I was surprised to find that Insurance was actually fundamental to the corporate and finance world. It had triggered an interest and I had done some research to find out more about what certain positions actually entailed.

The apprenticeship scheme offered was an Apprentice Insurance Broker which was ideal and caught my eye because of the complex nature of it. A job that both requires client communication and negotiation skills.”

Asked why she wanted to join BPL, Fjolla explained that,

“...BPL Global, as an independent company, had quite the ideal environment for an individual who wants to learn... Both the values and work ethic were particularly appealing, as was the client oriented approach. It was different to many other companies I had the opportunity to network in.”
