The NHS is the largest employer in the world, made up of multiple individual employers from Hospital Trusts to doctor's surgeries. Supported by the heath and social care sector, the NHS provides health and care, for free, at the point of need.

There are over 350 different roles within the NHS, both clinical and non-clinical. Examples include, but are not exhaustive too: nurses and midwives, engineers, healthcare scientists, corporate functions (HR and finance), doctors and dentists, care workers and general managers.

Entry routes into most of these roles are available through different NHS apprenticeship programmes.
