Manchester: GCHQ, Cyber Security Work Experience Day In person event
This event is for: Year 12s interested in a career in cyber security and looking for an apprenticeship.
The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is one of the three UK Intelligence and Security Agencies, along with MI5 and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). Their mission is to keep Britain safe.
By joining this Work Experience Day, you'll learn how the people at GCHQ keep our forces safe, prevent terrorism and crime, and protect against cyber attacks.
The day itself..
From geo conversions to encryption brainteasers, with a strong emphasis on core concepts such as teamwork and communicating conclusions, this experience day gives delegates a chance to engage in a fun and interactive environment with some of the technical and soft skills an analyst is required to have. The day is designed to emulate various aspects of an analyst’s training, and gives a taste of a day in the life at GCHQ. Also, included in the day will be an introduction to the intelligence services as well as a Q&A with employees about their career journey into GCHQ and showcasing further opportunities.

Fine print
Due to the regulations and security measures at GCHQ, anyone interested in attending an event with the organisation must be a British citizen. Photographic identification will be checked on the day of the event by a member of GCHQ staff. Uptree will also need to send your date of birth ahead of you attending the event. This information will be sent securely and only used for this event.

This is an in-person event and will be hosted at the company's offices. All venues are covid-safe and meet government guidelines of health and safety. If you are allocated a place, you will be sent the company's safety guidelines a week in advance, eg. if masks are to be worn. You will be expected to follow any guidance from the company on the day.

At any Uptree event, including those held online using video conferencing software, we may take photographs or video footage for the purpose of marketing. These images may appear on our website, social media, and press releases to create awareness of our brand. We may also share the photographs with our partner companies for them to share across social media.
