About the Addleshaw Goddard Cyber Security Graduate Scheme

You don't need to be a lawyer to build a standout career at a leading law firm. As a Cyber Security Graduate at Addleshaw Goddard, you'll be at the heart of keeping the firm's confidential, commercially sensitive data safe and building real expertise in one of the most in-demand fields in tech.

This role sits within Addleshaw Goddard's global IT team, with colleagues across London, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh. You'll build knowledge across four key areas:

  • Security Policies and Procedures: Rules and guidelines covering how to use systems securely, how to handle sensitive information, and how to escalate issues.
  • Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating weaknesses that could be exploited by cyber attackers, and recommending ways to reduce or manage those risks.
  • Security Systems: The tools and technologies that protect the firm's computers, networks and data — including antivirus software, firewalls and access controls.
  • Network Activity and Security Incidents: Monitoring the firm's network to spot unusual activity, and quickly investigating and responding to threats.

As a Cyber Security Graduate at Addleshaw Goddard, a typical day might look like:

  • You start the day by checking alerts from security systems, helping to monitor for unusual activity or potential threats. If there are any incidents, you support the investigation, gathering information, analysing findings, and documenting outcomes.
  • You take part in vulnerability scanning, identifying weaknesses in the firm's systems and tracking progress as they're resolved.
  • You review and help update security policies and procedures to make sure guidelines stay effective.
  • In collaboration with IT teams, you help ensure computers and systems are configured securely and properly maintained.
  • You spend time researching the latest cyber security threats and trends, sharing what you learn with the team.
  • You attend training sessions or shadow colleagues as part of your ongoing learning and development.
  • Throughout the day, you collaborate with people across the firm, asking questions, contributing ideas, and helping to keep AG's systems and data safe.

Competitive Benefits Package:

  • Starting salary of £26,000 a year.
  • A range of benefits, including access to healthcare, mental health support and wellbeing and lifestyle initiatives.
  • A dedicated Early Careers team will help to guide you before you start your apprenticeship and whilst in the role, including delivering the right level of training and development opportunities via our Early Careers pathways.
  • Hybrid working: a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, with the remaining days available for remote working.
