Overview

International Business Machines (IBM), is a global technology company that provides hardware, software, cloud-based services and cognitive computing.

The role

As a Test Engineer Apprentice within IBM's Quality Engineering and Test Practice, this is just a small selection of what you could be involved in:

• Designing and developing tests to find and fix bugs.
• Writing code to develop automated testing frameworks.
• Applying the latest cognitive techniques to efficiently find defects.
• Using threat modelling and attack vector analysis to secure sensitive data.
• Building end to end pipelines that automatically test and validate code.
• Writing code and using automated tools to simulate thousands of users on a website.
• Using the latest chaos engineering concepts to test the ability of a system to withstand different kinds of failures.

 

Who Should Apply?

You don’t need to be studying a business or technology subject, but you must have a keen interest and passion for technology.

IBM are looking for candidates with at least 5 GCSE's (or equivalent), at grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English Language. They will accept Level 2 Skill Tests as an equivalent for GCSE's in Maths and English.

You will need to be mobile as all IBM apprenticeship roles will be project-based and typically you will find yourself working at client sites, which will require extensive travel and staying away from home during the week. IBM base locations are across the UK mainly in (but not limited to) London and Hurlsey. You must be authorised to work in the UK.
