About Peel Hunt’s Trader Programme

Peel Hunt are offering two additional places on their January 2027 Trainee Trader Programme, a rare opportunity for ambitious and highly numerate school leavers to begin their career on a live trading floor as an alternative route to university. You will join Peel Hunt’s Execution Services team, which is the firm’s trading and liquidity business and plays a central role in supporting its research, corporate broking and capital markets work. The programme runs for 24 months, with the aim of offering successful trainees a permanent role at the end.

This is not a classroom based programme, as you will be part of the trading floor from day one and learn directly from experienced market makers, starting with a tailored training plan that helps you build the key skills needed to succeed in the team.

As a Trainee Trader, you will:

• Support market makers in providing two‑way prices across UK‑listed securities
• Assist with trade execution, booking and monitoring positions using trading systems
• Learn how to manage market risk, inventory and capital exposure in real time
• Monitor markets, news flow and price movements throughout the trading day
• Gain a detailed understanding of market structure, order books and liquidity
• Support the desk with post‑trade analysis, reconciliation and risk reporting
• Develop strong awareness of regulatory requirements and conduct standards
• Provide ad-hoc administrative support to the various teams across the trading floor

As part of the programme, you will rotate across our different desks, learning from our Traders and supporting them with tasks where appropriate. As you progress through the programme, you will gradually be given increased responsibility and exposure to trading decisions.
