Application criteria: 

  • You must be 18 years old by 1st September to apply for the 2025 intake
  • Recent school or college graduates with A-levels or BTECs
  • A-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects – no minimum UCAS points required.
  • Level 2 in both English and Maths (GCSE grade A* to C or equivalent) for those undertaking a level 3 or higher apprenticeship.
  • Individuals unsure that university is the path for them.
  • Living in England.
  • Must not be enrolled in another funded apprenticeship or further education programme at the time of starting.

About the opportunity

On this programme, you’ll be part of the Group Internal Audit team. The team provides independent and objective assurance and consulting services that are vital for enhancing the integrity and effectiveness of the organisation’s operations. By assessing risk management, control measures, and governance processes, they support informed decision-making and contribute to driving organisational success.

The department is led by the Head of Group Internal Audit who has a primary reporting line to the Chair of the Board Audit and Risk Committee, with a secondary line to the Group Chief Executive.  

What you’ll do

As an Internal Audit Apprentice, you will be an integral part of the Group Internal Audit team. This apprenticeship is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in internal audit practices while developing your professional skills in the financial services industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with experienced auditors to assist in the evaluation of internal processes and controls.
  • You will develop your skills and gain experience in conducting audits across their Asset and Wealth Management businesses, gaining a deeper understanding of how various factors influence investment decisions and client outcomes.
  • You will assist in collecting and analysing data, and learn how to use analytical tools to identify trends and areas of risk.
  • You will help prepare audit reports that communicate findings and recommendations to management.
  • You will participate in training sessions and workshops to expand your knowledge of internal audit methodologies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to interact with various departments and levels of management.
  • Beyond auditing, you will also develop soft skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication.
