London: FuturesUP, Spotlight on Law In person event
This event is designed for Year 13 students who have a strong understanding of the law profession, are clear about their areas of legal interest and are planning to apply for a solicitor apprenticeship in Autumn 2026 to begin in September 2027.

FuturesUP: Spotlight on Law is a full day at RPC's London office, built for Year 13 students who want a career in law and are planning to apply for a solicitor apprenticeship this autumn, to start in September 2027. This isn't a day of listening to people talk at you. Every session is hands-on, so you leave having actually practised the skills firms are looking for, not just heard about them. If that excites you, 16th October is the day to make the connections that count.
Why you should attend

- Gain access to a professional network of leaders and decision-makers in law who could hold the key to your future career.
- Ask questions and hear first-hand stories from current apprentices, graduates, Uptree alumni and professionals from a range of law firms, people who've genuinely been through what you're about to go through.
- Walk away more confident about applying to the legal profession, with a true insight into what makes an application stand out, how to interview well and what company culture really means.
The in-person event takes place at RPC's offices, Tower Bridge House, St Katharine's Way, London E1W 1AA, from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge. A full list of attending law firms will be confirmed closer to the date.
Agenda
Your day, session by session
Keynote and panel. Kick off the day hearing directly from solicitors and apprentices about their own journeys into law, then put your questions to them.
Mock interview bootcamp and psychometric testing. Watch a live poor-versus-strong interview demonstration, then get stuck in yourself. You'll practise structuring stronger answers, get an introduction to psychometric tests like the Watson-Glaser that law firms commonly use in recruitment, and pick up practical tips for approaching them with confidence.
Commercial awareness case study. Step into an assessment centre exercise for real. Working with other students, you'll unpack a client's business challenge, identify the key issues, apply some commercial thinking and present your recommendations, all under time pressure, just like the real thing.
Personal branding and networking. Bring the whole group back together to work on how you present yourself: developing your personal brand, introducing yourself with confidence, and practising real networking conversations with the professionals in the room.
Careers festival. Round off the day meeting recruiters and representatives from multiple law firms face to face. Ask the questions that matter to you and start building the connections that could shape your application.
By 4:30pm, you won't just know more about the solicitor apprenticeship process, you'll have actually practised it: interviewing, problem solving, networking and presenting yourself, all in one day.

This is an in-person event hosted at the company’s offices, as shown in the map section above. Please review and note the office location before applying to ensure you can travel safely to the site.
Personal information
When you apply for this event, we use the information you give us to check if you meet the requirements set by the employer. If your application is successful, we will share your first name, last name, and your parent or guardian’s mobile number with the employer. We may also include any dietary or medical information you choose to share during your application to help keep you safe.
We use this information to make sure the event is safe and runs smoothly. All the information we share with the employer is sent securely in protected files and deleted after the event is over.
If the employer needs any extra information about you, we will always ask for your clear permission first. This means you must say ‘yes’ before we share anything.
Photography and videography consent
At any Uptree event, including online ones using video conferencing, we and the employer hosting the event might take photos or videos to share in marketing materials. This means the pictures or videos could appear on our website, social media, in press releases, or other places to help more people learn about Uptree. We might also share these photos with the employer hosting the event, so they can use them too.
By signing up for an event with Uptree, you are giving us and the employer permission to take and use photos of you. If you don’t want us to take photos of you, please email us with your name and the event name at educationteam@uptree.co.
If you’d like to share your experience on LinkedIn or other social media, you’re welcome to take photos at the in-person events! Just make sure to be professional, ask permission before taking pictures of other people or employer volunteers, and only take photos at appropriate times so you don’t interrupt the event.
For online events, screenshots aren’t ever allowed. This helps keep everyone’s privacy safe, which is really important. Don’t worry—after the event, we’ll send out some great photos that you can share on social media. We’ll make sure everyone in the pictures is happy to be included!
Marketing and feedback consent
After every Uptree event, we ask for feedback through a short, anonymous survey. This helps us improve our events and services. Sometimes, we also use the feedback in our marketing, which means your comments might appear on our website, social media, or in press releases to help people learn about Uptree.
Your feedback will always stay anonymous—this means no one will know it was you who gave the feedback. We might also share the feedback with the employer who hosted the event so they can make their events better and use it in their own marketing.
By filling out the feedback form, you’re giving Uptree permission to use your comments and share them with employers, but your name will never be included unless we obtain your permission in writing. If you would prefer not to share your feedback, then that is absolutely fine and will not affect your ability to participate in Uptree events, just let your Event Host know on the day.
