About IBM

At IBM, work is more than a job - it's a calling: to build. To design. To code. To consult. To think along with clients and sell. To make markets. To invent. To collaborate. Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you've never thought possible. To lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world's most challenging problems.

IBM offer roles for post-university graduates as well as those joining straight from further education.

For post-graduates, IBM typically offer:

  • 12-month university placements.
  • Summer internships.
  • Graduate roles.

For those applying straight from further education, IBM typically offer apprenticeships as:

  • Software Developers.
  • Test Engineers.
  • Junior Management Consultants.
  • Technology Salespeople.
  • Chartered Business Managers (degree apprenticeship).
  • Digital and Technology roles (degree apprenticeship).
  • Designers (degree apprenticeship).

All of the apprenticeships offered straight from further education have a starting salary of £21,000.

If you are unsure whether to go to university or into an apprenticeship, IBM also offer their 12-month Futures Gap Year Scheme. Within this scheme, there are internships in business, technical and design roles.

All of the internships have a starting salary of £18,500 plus a £1,000 bonus.

When you join IBM you will become part of the ‘Foundation’ Early Professional Community alongside apprentices, Futures Gap Year students, university placement students and graduates.

As part of this community you will be assigned an Early Professional Manager (in addition to your day-to-day Task manager). Your Early Professional Manager will be with you every step of the way, ensuring you get the experience you need to get to the next step in your career. They will support you with your training and development and to give back to the community both inside and outside of IBM.

You will also benefit from IBM rewards – offering discounted cinema tickets, high street store discounts and more! Depending on your role, you may get a company phone to keep in touch with your clients and colleagues if you go off-site. You’ll also be given a company laptop so that you can work on the go.
